Nikolas Haass

Nikolas Haass is a clinician scientist with research interests in melanoma cell biology and experimental therapy. He received his degree in medicine from the University of Heidelberg (1990-1998), where he graduated summa cum laude with a PhD in Cell Biology (1993-1999). He trained in clinical dermatology at the University of Hamburg (1999-2003) and was awarded a German Research Foundation (DFG) post-doctoral fellowship in Meenhard Herlyn’s lab at The Wistar Institute at University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia (2003-2007). From there he was recruited as associate faculty and senior lecturer to Wolfgang Weninger’s lab at the Centenary Institute and the Department of Dermatology at University of Sydney (2007-2013). In 2013 he commenced his position as Professor for Cutaneous Oncology at the Frazer Institute at University of Queensland. His service to ASDR: Member of the Board of Directors 2007-2014, President 2014-2016, Past President 2016-2018, Director of International Liaison 2018-2024, Advisory Council member since 2024.
